ASOS hires interim CFO as ‘Driving Change’ leadership initiative takes shape

Almost four months into its ‘Driving Change’ agenda, how is the major initiative to reinforce leadership and refresh its culture going at ASOS?

In an update on Friday, the global digital retailer said it has now filled 75% of these roles “through a balanced combination of internal talent and key strategic hires” and promised to provide a full update at its interim results on 10 May.

But there was one important hire to announce. To provide additional support on its agenda, until a permanent CFO is appointed, ASOS has appointment Sean Glithero as interim CFO once Katy Mecklenburgh leaves in May.

Having already joined the company to allow for a “thorough handover”, Glithero arrives “with a track record of delivery across a range of digital and fashion businesses”. During his 28-year finance career, including 10 years as a CFO, he has led large finance functions at businesses including, most recently, Matchesfashion and Funding Circle Holdings.

ASOS said it’s taking action to “simplify the decision-making processes within the organisation while also building a stronger new Leadership Team with greater depth in critical areas”.

A 12-person team, covering Creative, Product, Trading, Supply Chain, Technology, Marketing, Finance, Strategy, People and Communications, will focus on the delivery of the initiatives.
