Ashford Designer Outlet opens £90 million extension

Published
Nov 7, 2019

Leading premium brands including Sandro, Maje, Reiss, Coach and Karl Lagerfeld are arriving in Ashford, Kent as part of a £90 million extension of McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Ashford.

McArthurGlen

The 100,000 sq ft expansion officially was launched on Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by Peter Corr, Centre Manager, joined by MP Damian Green.

The outlet centre is now one of the biggest in the South of England, with over 130 premium brands, restaurants, cafes and immersive guest experiences.

Other fashion brands opening stores at the development include Ugg, Joules, Dr Martens, Dune, Hugo Boss, Armani, Gant, Puma and Under Armour.

The new site will create approximately 500 jobs within the Ashford local community, and is one of several major projects underway in the region in a bid to drive economic growth.

In addition to new shops, the extension introduces a Europe’s largest living wall installation, developed by green infrastructure company, Biotecture. 120,000 plants are included in the living wall, a concept that has been proven to help uplift moods and reduce air pollution.

Meanwhile, a Garden of Light installation has been designed with Pixel Artworks to stimulate the senses and encourage guests to reflect on their connection with nature.

Ashford Designer Outlet is one of six outlet centres in McArthurGlen’s UK portfolio. The property firm is also building a further site near Birmingham, which is scheduled to open next year.
