Ascential acquires retail analytics software Brand View

WGSN owner Ascential has acquired Brand View, a leading global provider of price and promotion analytics to retailers, for an undisclosed sum.

With offices in Reading (UK), Stamford Connecticut (USA) and Paris (France), it serves more than 200 retailers and manufacturers, providing a tool for brands to measure and manage pricing and promotion activity.

It also allows retailers to monitor and track shopper reviews and ratings, social media sentiment, product search ranking and the accuracy of their online content strategies.

The acquisition was facilitated by the £300 million sale of Ascential’s exhibition business to ITE Group earlier this year. Included in the sale was Pure London, one of the UK’s leading fashion trade shows.

After agreeing the sale, Ascential said it would focus on its other areas, which provide solutions in the disciplines of product design, marketing and sales.

Brand View broadens the company’s e-commerce analytics offering and  introduces a new customer segment, retailers.

"We have a clear focus on providing information and capabilities that enable our customers to succeed in the digital economy. The acquisition of Brand View, using capital released from the sale of the Exhibitions business, supports this goal by broadening our capabilities in e-commerce analytics,” commented Ascential CEO Duncan Painter.

“Brand View's Price and Promotion expertise, and coverage of store-based activity, provides a comprehensive offering for both retailers and manufacturers.”

Brand View is expected to generate adjusted EBITDA margins of approximately 20% during Ascential’s the current financial year.
