Andreas Schmeidler, 53, passed away on the night of Saturday November 3, sources confirmed to FashionNetwork. The Milanese manager was well-known in the fashion world, both in Italy and abroad, having been instrumental in the success of several fashion companies.

Among them, the French leader in online event sales, vente-privée.com, of which Schmeidler was the Country Manager Italy between 2010 and 2016. He oversaw the website’s launch in Italy, and turned a company hitherto unknown in the country into a household name.

The Italian manager then won the trust of giant Russian retail group Mercury. He first collaborated with the group as an external consultant and then, in 2017, he was appointed CEO of the country’s largest luxury department store, Moscow’s TsUM, which is also present as DLT in Saint Petersburg, both operated by Mercury.
