Amsterdam-based clothing brand Daily Paper has tapped New York City to open its first permanent retail space outside of Amsterdam.

Daily Paper's new New York City flagship store - Daily Paper

Opened on October 24, the NYC flagship is located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Featuring both a main 1,140-square-foot retail floor and a club on the second floor, the store "serves as a physical manifestation of Daily Paper’s unique aesthetic combining ancient African culture with contemporary European design," the brand said.

Designed in partnership with interior architect designer Heather Faulding of 4plus Design, the flagship's Afrofuturistic aesthetic begins with its white exterior decorated with rounded gables found on Dutch townhouses, and a facade covered with panels created from crushed drink cans, shaped in a pattern inspired by African beadwork.

The store's lobby features a circular stone mosaic on the floor and arches and beams above, introducing shoppers to the store's array of ready-to-wear pieces, as well as accessories carried in glass display cases.

In addition to acting as a club space, the store's second floor also includes a cafe and lounge area featuring wrapped stone and porcelain decorations and multiple seating areas.

In addition to its new NYC flagship, Daily Paper currently operates two stores in its native Amsterdam and is carried by 200 stores in 29 countries.
