Alpargatas Company has named Frederic Levy as the President of its Havaianas International operation. This means he’ll be responsible for all the label’s markets outside of its domestic market, Brazil.

The role is a new one with the company saying it was created to “accelerate the global expansion of Havaianas”.

He’s based in Spain, reporting directly to Roberto Funari, CEO at Alpargatas.

The new exec doesn’t have a fashion and clothing background, however. Levy joins from Coravin, “an innovative start-up”, where he was CEO and managed to turn “a game-changing product into a must-have brand for wine lovers sold in 60 countries,” the company said.

Before that, as President at Nespresso North America, he “drove triple-digit growth by opening the first 30 Nespresso boutiques in the US, developing product innovations, and building multi-channel media campaigns”. He’d been promoted into that role after being head of digital for the brand where he launched its e-commerce site.

“I am excited to lead Havaianas global growth and continue to build this iconic lifestyle brand that brings the spirit of joy and freedom”, he said.
