Alexandra Winokur has been appointed president of Christian Dior Couture Americas, an important market for luxury group LVMH's star brand. This key appointment has been confirmed by the company. With 20 years of experience in the luxury goods industry in the United States, the 40-year-old manager is familiar with the French luxury giant, having previously worked for some of its other houses, including Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs. She succeeds Gianfranco D'Attis, who is expected to take over at Prada.

Alexandra Winokur started out in finances before entering the luxury industry, working for the American brand Tory Burch from 2003. There she held various positions in the commercial field, before moving to Louis Vuitton in 2008, where she was notably vice president for North America. In 2014, she joined Marc Jacobs, where she eventually took on the role of senior vice president retail in the United States.

Two years later, she joined Tiffany & Co. as group vice president, first in charge of retail for the U.S., then for North America. Finally, in 2019, she joined Cartier, another jeweler, as senior vice president, commercial director for North America.

The American manager is expected to start in her new role next March, being based in New York. Her extensive knowledge of the U.S. luxury market, particularly in retail, should enable Christian Dior to further expand in a region with strong growth potential.
