Agenda Long Beach rewards seven brands

Published
Jul 17, 2014

It was a first for the surf and skate trade show Agenda. For its Long Beach, California edition, organizers decided to reward a handful of exhibitors with trophies. Matix and Civil were chosen for their stands’ originality. Agenda also recognized Zanerobe and Beach Riot for their collections.

The former, from Sydney, Australia, markets a complete, understated men’s collection (it’s distributed in the Netherlands by the agency The Train). The latter, from California, sells colorful beachwear for women.

Native Shoes was distinguished for footwear. At the moment only present in a dozen outlets in Western Europe, the brand offers ballerina flats, sandals and lightweight boots made of ethylene-vinyl acetate, also known as EVA. The trophy for the accessories category went to Shwood, a sunglasses brand from Portland, Oregon, that sells wooden frames.

Finally, the new brand recognized by the “Breakout" award was founded by industry leaders of surf and skate. Amuse Society will deliver its first collection for spring 2015. The womenswear brand is the result of a collaboration between Mandy Fry, formerly director of design at Billabong and Summer Rapp, and former vice-president in charge of women's collections for the Quiksilver group.

The New York edition of Agenda will be held from July 21 to 22 at Javits Center North.
