TheMicam is multiplying its projects and fostering its international growth. The international trade fair for footwear in Milan taking place March 2–5 features 1,589 exhibitors, including 631 foreign companies from 30 countries, with an especially strong showing from Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom and France. Next up an American version, destination New York.

Two years ago the show began efforts to go international and last year created a Chinese edition of TheMicam in Shanghai, whose third edition will take place March 24 to 26 with some 200 exhibitors. Riding on the success of the initiative, show organizers now want to extend TheMicam to other markets, starting with the United States. Initially TheMicam wanted to get established in Las Vegas, but New York has emerged a more prestigious and interesting location.

"We went to Las Vegas with a delegation of companies, but that's not our own fair. Now we want to bring the American version of TheMicam to New York. We are working with the Milan Fair to develop this project, which could be finished in 2015," said Cleto Sagripanti, the president of Assocalzaturifici, the association of Italian shoe manufacturers, which organizes TheMicam.

The fair is also about to announce some major changes and improvements regarding the layout and organization of TheMicam's next summer edition, which is scheduled for late August (August 31 to September 3, 2014).
