AAFA President steps down

Published
Nov 13, 2015

After being at the helm of the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) for eighteen months, Junita Duggan has stepped down from the presidency. She left after the final drawing up of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) free-trade agreement, though the institution is now without a leader while discussions for the Transatlantic free-trade agreement continue.

Junita Duggan - AAFA

Junita Duggan has accepted the role of head of the National Federation of Independent Business. Before taking charge of AAFA in July 2014, Duggan notably worked for Brownstein, Hyatt, Farber and Shreck. She was also the President of the US association of wine and liquor retailers, as well as of the American Forest & Paper Association.

"Under her leadership we reaped significant regulatory success, raised the organisation's profile again and set up a new structure which will bring AAFA to future success," Rick Helfenbein, AAFA's Chairman, stated. "We are well under way towards substantiating our successes, and we remain actively engaged in the issues of trade and the fight against counterfeiting, and in building up our brand."

AAFA groups together about one thousand international brands, adding up to four million US workers and no less than $361 billion in sales.
