A.P.C. launches made-in-America brand

Published
Jan 25, 2017

A.P.C is looking to America to expand with the launch of A.P.C.U.S – a sub-brand of A.P.C. made in the United States.

A.P.C.U.S. will look to more casual styles than the A.P.C line. The first collection, consisting of three styles, will include a cotton-blend jersey t-shirt, a cotton hoodie, and a crewneck pullover. The designs will be simple – each piece released so far is pale grey with a small A.P.C.U.S logo.

One of the first product offerings from A.P.C.U.S - A.P.C.

The French brand, founded by Jean Touitou in 1985 and well-known for its high-quality blue jeans, currently holds a retail footprint of over 50 stores around the world and 7 in the United States, with a location in Melrose Place being one of them.

Prices will sit at the reasonable price point at $75 for a t-shirt, $135 for a pullover, and $170 for a hoodie. Touitou told GQ that although he is proud of the brand’s French heritage, the cost of labour in the country is high, and producing the garments in France would drive up the retail prices of the collection.

“People are hurt badly with taxes and all sort of expenses, worldwide,” Toitou told GQ, “It is important to try and have affordable prices, even for luxurious items, not only hoodies.”
