Around 2,000 people arrived at the Business Design Centre at the end of October for the latest edition of London textile fairs Texfusion and The London Print Design Fair (TLPDF).

Organisers said the increased offer from international textile manufactures received a positive response from the British market, following the introduction of the India, China, and Taiwan Pavilions.

The India Pavilion, organised by Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) of Mumbai, brought 30 Indian companies to Texfusion, while the China Pavilion, coordinated by Tengda Exhibitions, accounted for 40 of the total 200 exhibitors.

10 companies specialising in functional textile, sustainability and denim showcased in the Taiwan Pavilion, which returned to the trade show for the second time.

Show organisers also said the quality of visitors was higher this season, with larger numbers of buyers and representatives from big name retailers, independent designers and medium to high-end fashion brands.

80% of visitors were from England, mostly from the Greater London area, and cities such as  Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool.

Interestingly, 38% of visitors were sourcing for functional and sustainable fabrics, compared to just 24% for menswear and 15% for sportswear. Womenswear took the lead with 42% of buyers.

The next edition of Texfusion and TLPDF will take place on 26-27 March at the Business Design Centre.
