​UK’s River Island launches plus-size line

The British high-street retailer River Island is extending the size offering of selected styles from March 2016, it announced on Thursday.

The debut line will comprise 75 pieces in sizes 18-24 UK, ranging from party dresses and work-wear classics to basic essentials and a black leather biker jacket. According to the brand, the latest trends have been ensured to make fashion-forward, trend-lead clothing available to more women.  

Marketing Director Josie Roscop said in a statement: "We’re excited about giving great fashion to more women, we feel this is the right time for the brand to expand our size range offering.  Ultimately, it’s about fashion and being inclusive.”

The campaign for the collection, which will be available in top stores and online, is fronted by plus-size model Candice Huffine, who made history when she became the first plus size model to feature in the latest Pirelli Calendar. She has also posed for V, W Magazine and i-D.

Prices will range from £6 to £80.
