​Selfridges launches sustainable programme Bright New Things

British luxury department store Selfridges is championing this January some of the UK’s most exciting emerging talent with a programme that includes displaying their work in an Oxford Street window.

The scheme, developed in collaboration with the Centre for Sustainable Fashion, puts the focus on sustainability and highlights nine brands that excel in their sustainable and ethical practices to reduce waste, use recycled materials and promote ethical working conditions

Auria, Clothsurgeon, EMG, Faustine Steinmetz, Hiut Denim, Katie Jones, Martina Spetlova, Mich Dulce and Unmade are the brands that have been chosen, and will also receive mentoring by the Centre for Sustainable Fashion. One of them will also win a bursary to support with the further development of their sustainable credentials. 

Additionally, 30 established brands and designers committed to sustainable products and practices across all Selfridges' categories and departments will be spotlighted. These include international fashion houses Burberry, Gucci and Stella McCartney, and innovators like Christopher Raeburn whose menswear will be available at Selfridges for the first time.
