Asos unveils fashion design competition for British brands
Online platform Asos has announced the opening of a new fashion design competition that aims to nurture two emerging UK-based fashion brands.
The “Asos Fashion Discovery” initiative will grant each winner £50,000, as well as a 12-month mentoring programme and the opportunity to sell an edit of their collection on Asos.com for three seasons.
The judging panel includes Asos CEO Nick Beighton, i-D Magazine Senior Fashion Editor Julia Sarr-Jamois and Wonderland Creative Director Andrew Davis, as well as several Asos directors and Youtube menswear blogger Joel McLoughlin. The panel will select 12 brands for the shortlist and the winners will be announced by 20 October.
Only UK-registered brands that have been trading for less than five years can apply to the competition.
To celebrate the initiative, Asos has partnered with i-D on a film series about entering the fashion industry.
