'Spiritwear' label Nuyu and Warner Bros. partner for Wonder Woman collection

Published
May 11, 2017

New York City-based brand Nuyu is launched a new collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) for the upcoming 'Wonder Woman' film, hitting theaters on June 2, 2017.

The Nuyu x Wonder Woman collection

The Nuyu x Wonder Woman collection is the first of several projects in the works between the womenswear brand and WBCP. The collaboration, which marks as the first as Nuyu’s first collection, draws inspiration from the DC Comics superhero that has been portrayed by actresses Lynda Carter in the 1970s and Gal Gadot who plays the superhero in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' and in the upcoming 'Wonder Woman' film.

The athleisure collection is comprised of black and gold neoprene jackets, yoga shorts, tanks, dresses, sports bras and gladiator leggings that feature custom prints that replicate body armor and shields, the Wonder Woman logo and Wonder Woman-inspired mantras such as “Join the Fight” and “Warrior Princess”.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with nuyu for this fashion-athleisure collection, introducing their unique designs that tell the aesthetics of Wonder Woman’s DNA,” said Soo Koo, Chief Creative Officer, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. “Pairing up with nuyu’s distinctive design sensibility is a natural fit – as this Wonder Woman athleisure line brings strength and fashion to this lifestyle brand.”

Founded by Tracy Buescher in 2014, Nuyu offers “spiritwear” for women. She was inspired to launch the brand after she was unable to find anything stylish from her Alma Mater’s college bookstore that had the school logo and could be worn with her wardrobe. Nuyu rolled out nationally at 30 campuses by fall 2016, and the brand is available at select retail stores and its website.

To support the launch of the collaboration, Nuyu and WBCP partnered with Ron Robinson at Fred Segal to unveil the collaboration on May 6. Nuyu also launched for pre-order a Wonder Woman 75th Anniversary collection consisting of outerwear, leggings, tanktops, bikinis and activewear. The collection will launch in May 2017.

The Nuyu x Wonder Woman collection is available now and retails between $54 and $280.
