Twenty-five-year-old Linda Scerpella, a motion designer at Brunel University, London, and her ‘Invisible Plastics’ campaign have been selected from over 3,000 of the UK’s finest up-and-coming designers at the two-week exhibition.

Consisting of a series of animated films focusing on invisible toxins and microfibres, judges applauded the campaign’s powerful message and the skills Linda Scerpella displayed from a wide range of creative disciplines.

Laura Allcott, creative talent manager and presenter of the award said: “We were impressed not only by the calibre of Linda’s work but also by the topical and evocative messages in her campaign.

“Every year we see something new at New Designers, which is a privilege because we’re always looking for fresh perspectives. We’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Linda on her award, and we look forward to welcoming her to the Pentland family later in the year.”

Scerpella will receive a two-month paid work placement at Pentland Brands, starting later this year. As such, she will join Pentland’s in-house creative agency, which oversees the creative efforts of the group’s brands including Berghaus, Canterbury and Ellesse.

On receiving the award, Linda said: “It was very unexpected, especially as we’re such a small course. It’s amazing to have this opportunity and I’m really looking forward to my placement at Pentland Brands. It sounds like they’ve got some pretty exciting projects going on and a lot of variety which is what I’m really looking for in the workplace.”
