Designers : Andreas Kronthaler & Vivienne WestwoodAtmosphere: The couple mix their two lines for a single show in the heart of Paris. Smoke escapes from the stairs where the models make their entrance, men and women, made up in all colours, or with hair pasted to their faces. Musicians accompany each section, with strong and cosmopolite casting.Collection: rich, colourful, folkloristic. Prints and fabrics that come from Austria, the designer’s country of origin. Many pieces are hand painted by Vivienne Westwood herself. Pinafore dresses, tailored trousers made from two materials, strong prints such as the landscapes that serve as trousers or foulard dresses. Stage pieces, the models advance like sculptures with threads or flowers suspended above the dresses. To note: the sculptural dress most notably the one in red + the “Andreas” t-shirt and dress. Interviews with Andrea Kronthaler & Vivienne Westwood:Andreas KronthalerI like folklore and I think it gets very badly treated most of the time, tradition is a very important thing because tradition is something you have, and you have to look after it. You shouldn’t be stuck in it but it’s an important thingI always like it rich and full and I like it when there’s variation because I think there’s nothing more beautiful than giving people choice. I very much enjoy making it and I feel I can go on doing something different nowI like folklore and I think it gets very badly treated most of the time, tradition is a very important thing because tradition is something you have, and you have to look after it. You shouldn’t be stuck in it but it’s an important. I live for this which once happened, they inspire me. Vivienne Westwoodit only clicked this morning what is the word for that collection is ‘fairy-tale’. It really is, it’s like Grimm’s fairy tales, all folkloristic even the Arabian nights, it’s every fairy-tale and every myth so I think it’s really fantasy, a wonderful identity.
