John Galliano - Women's Autumn-Winter 2017/18 collection in Paris (with interview)

Artistic Director : Bill Gaytten Location : The fabulous rooms of the Marois hotel in a row, on avenue Franklin Roosevelt Inspiration : a collection inspired by the Italian countess CasatiCollection : an ultra-feminine winter wardrobe, with many propositions of delicate dresses, draped, plunging at the back with a fluid fall. Also a sartorial spirit of a great femininity, with amplitude for the high waisted trousers, in silky and luminous materials and jackets emphasizing the hip, highlighting the body. The delicacy of printed and gathered tops, adorned with little fabric buttons. The coats are enveloping, a couture spirit exuding from this show. To note : the Stephen Jones fur hats, the heeled Richelieu shoes. Interview with Bill Gaytten : The starting point was Casati, she was very eccentric, she wore living snakes as necklaces, she’s crazy to be serious I relooked at photographs of her and I felt inspired but one particular picture, she was wearing a lot of lame, jacquard, it was very rich, and that was the starting point for research, for fabric research, whatever the theme is, like Casati, it’s only the beginning point, it’s the beginning and then you just take it from there and you developIt’s not a simple collection, its rich. It’s a little bit less of the masculine, there’s a lot of tailoring, and stuff but then again the tailoring has bias cutting, it has drapes within the tailoring, so it’s a little but more feminine but there’s a lot of cutting techniques, a lot of embroidery.
