Louis Vuitton – Cruise Collection 2017 by Nicolas Ghesquière

Location: Rio de Janeiro - the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum designed by the architect Oscar Niemeyer, true majestic UFO overlooking the ocean and the city of Rio.Inspiration: Every Cruise Collection pays tribute to the country where the house chooses to show, Chanel & Cuba and this time Louis Vuitton & Brazil. The artistic director, Nicolas Ghesquière, wanted to portray both the beauty and strength of this country, between exacerbated urbanity and ultra-present nature, aestheticism & sporty allure, colours and diversity. Ghesquière cites the influence of Brazilian artists like Aldemir Martins whose prints were used in this collection and Helio Oiticia. The Silhouette: Sporty-futuristic. The dresses detach or zip such futuristic diving jumpsuits; the cuts are asymmetric or short at the front and long at the back, or see them all rounded forming as sports bras. A leather zipped top crosses an ultra-lightweight, colourful parka or a parachute dress, chic hippy dresses give way to tops ruffled on the front Note: The bags: checked, multi coloured, with the word "Vuitton" written as the title of a film with a particular crush on the "stereo boom box"! + the ultra-high tech shoes, between sneaker –sandals and slippers. With interviews from Catherine Deneuve, Bae Doona, Alicia Vikander, Jaden smith, Alessandra Ambrosio & Isabeli FontanaCatherine Deneuve:What an incredible place to create such an incredible collection, it was like science fiction, girls from tomorrow in a flying saucer. Bae Doona:And this one was really uplifting, I felt like I was in a fantastic movie or something.Alicia Vikander:I thought this collection was just spectacular. The bohemian elements that I saw in some of the dresses were something that I felt were quite new. Jaden Smith:I really loved it and I feel like they are really just taking leaps and bounds in the fashion world. Then the shoes really struck me and then they had the sandals that I also really like. Alessandro Ambrosio:There was one item that really caught my attention and that was the boom box bag that the girls were all holding on the runway I thought it was the coolest thing. Isabeli Fontana:For me it is art in clothes because it is colourful beautiful happy and it is still super strong. What caught my attention in the collection were the asymmetric dresses, short and long at the same time and you are in the middle of the ocean with a beautiful monument, you can never get better than that.
