The first-ever Cruise Collection by Louis Vuitton at the Palais de Monaco

For the first time, the Louis Vuitton house presented its Cruise Collection for the 2015 season through a fashion show at the Place du Palais in Monaco, attended by the Grimaldi family and notably Prince Albert II and his wife Charlène. A second visible body of work for Nicolas Ghesquière since he took over as artistic director of the house in November 2013, following a debut prêt-à-porter show for Fall/Winter 2014/15 at Paris Fashion Week. A number of Louis Vuitton dresses have already got people talking over the past few days, having appeared at the Cannes Film Festival (as worn by Adèle Exarchopoulos and Julianne Moore) demonstrating how the designer is moulding and defining his own codes, a growing success. References are not intrinsic but various, mixed on each silhouette to create something completely new. A 70s style resonates from his first show – across pinafore dresses, floral prints and vinyl leather jackets - which make way for work on lace, embroidery, plays with transparency and blending of materials, with a hint of black leather. The waist is always high and cinched, with zips bringing this new urban attitude whilst bright colours catch the eye. And let’s not forget the embroidered blue of blue coral, forever reminding us that the call of the sea and voyage is never far at Louis Vuitton...Music from the show
