Best of 2013 : Singers and fashion, a winning duo !

It is easy enough to spot one star at a fashion show but in 2013 amongst them are singers, a group who definitely made their mark on the fashion world this year. Firstly, by appearing on the front row at the biggest shows, like Rita Ora and Katy Perry at Chanel or Justin Bieber at Opening Ceremony but also by showcasing their creativity. This is nothing new as proves Madonna, who, for her label Material Girl, created with her daughter, displays her best cult costumes in Los Angeles. More recently, Beyonce established herself as a style icon, becoming the 2013 muse for H&M’s swimwear line but also choosing to sport clothes created by the most in-vogue designers during her latest tour. For these singers, another in-vogue trend is to collaborate with more or less big labels. In 2013, Rihanna designed several collections for British brand River Island, spending a number of days with the label’s team on their premises. As for Pharrell Williams, he works again with the Moncler team becoming designer and ambassador for their glasses range, highlighting his own sense of style.Recently, alongside the release of her new album, singer MIA collaborated with and created a capsule collection for Versus. And Versace doesn’t stop there, seeing as the muse for their latest advertising campaign was none other than Lady Gaga.Lastly, the ultimate accolade: Harry Styles, singer from One Direction, took home this year’s Style Award at the British Fashion Awards 2013.Interviews:Rihanna:I made a piece for everybody in my crew, we all have different body types and different tastes and some are braver than others but I think like that because that is how all the women in the world are. We are all different, we all have different things and we all have different occasions, different moods and different body types.Pharrell Williams:You know, I’m not the only one who feels that fashion is important, everyone does. The football coach, he wears he coach jacket; it’s functional and it means something to him. The pilot, he wears his jumper because that’s important to him and it is for the functionality of his job so for me I feel that when I see all these different archetypes out in public, I am always watching for the things that are striking and that is what I wear and I often emulate and that is where I get my inspiration from, just from everyday people.Music free of right/Bandit & Nikit 2012
