Zadig & Voltaire welcomes Paulo Melim Andersson to its creative team

Zadig & Voltaire has called upon Paulo Melim Andersson, ex-Marni and Chloé, to increase its stylistic offer. He will work in tandem with artistic director Cecilia Bönström.

Zadig & Voltaire is moving up a step with its products offer. The rock label is looking to move more upmarket in terms of its creation. To do so, it has recruited ex-Marni and Chloé designer Paulo Melim Andersson.

 
Born in Madeira, he was an apprentice tailor for four years before moving to Paris where he studed literature at the Sorbonne. Two years later he enrolled at Saint Martins College of Art and Design and the London Royal College of Art from which he graduated with a double diploma. At the same time, he worked as a freelance designer at Maison Martin Margiela.
 
In 1999, at 26-years old, he was hired on as the artistic director at Italian house Marni. Eight years later he replaced Phoebe Philo as the creative head at Chloé, where he only stayed for two years. He then worked at Vanessa Bruno and for the Italian eco-friendly label Cangiari. Finally, he became a professor of fashion at the IUAV University of Venice, a role that he will continue to hold.

At Zadig & Voltaire, Paulo Melim Andersson will work on the accessories and women's collections in tandem with the artistic director. "We complement each other, the femininity of her side counterbalancing the androgynous allure of Zadig & Voltaire," said Cecilia Bönström.
 
They thus finalised the thirty looks for the women's fall/winter 2015/16 collection that will be presented on 5 March during the next Paris Fashion Week.
