V&A to host House of Holland showcase

Published
Oct 5, 2016

London’s Victoria and Albert Museum has announced British brand House of Holland as the next partner for the Fashion in Motion series. Marking the 10th anniversary of the irreverent brand, four free catwalk shows will be staged in the museum on Friday 21 October.

AW 2008 collection - House of Holland

House of Holland follows a string of other labels that have been the subject of the Fashion in Motion series, the programme bringing catwalk couture to the wider audience since 1999. Past subjects include Christopher Raeburn, Peter Pilotto, Grace Wales Bonner, Meadham Kirchhoff, Yohji Yamamoto, Kenzo, Gareth Pugh, Christian Lacroix, Missoni and Vivienne Westwood.

The retrospective shows will feature highlights from House of Holland’s womenswear collections across its history, from the iconic T-shirts featuring catchphrases such as “UHU GARETH PUGH” and the tartan eyepatch from 2008 to the raving grandma inspired collection for AW11. They will be featured alongside pieces from more recent shows.

On the day, House of Holland will open a pop-up store inside the V&A offering its 10th anniversary collection of slogan t-shirts.

“There is so much amazing content in the V&A for a designer and for someone in my field. I’m really excited to show some of my favourite moments from the last ten years at the V&A,” said Henry Holland, the designer behind the label.

Oriole Cullen, V&A Fashion curator said: “Designer Henry Holland's joyous blend of finely crafted fabrics and colourful prints celebrate the dynamic, irreverent sensibility of 'London Girl' style. The V&A is delighted to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the House of Holland and to showcase these designs as part of the Fashion in Motion series”.

Admission to the catwalk shows will be free, but booking is essential as tickets are limited. The 15:00 show will be live streamed via the V&A website.
