Under Armour announced on Thursday the appointment of Tim Coppens as Executive Creative Director of the company’s Under Armour Sportswear line.

The company took to Instagram to tease the new line as well as announce Coppens’ appointment. Under Armour Sportswear is expected to launch in fall 2016.

The new collection will include men's and women's apparel, footwear and accessories that are made with advanced activewear fabrics. Under Armour Sportswear will be carried in the company's New York and Chicago flagship stores, select department stores and a dedicated Under Armour Sportswear website.

Coppens’ Award-winning sportswear-driven fashion label makes him a logical partner for Under Armour Sportswear. Since founding his eponymous label in 2011, he was one of the finalists for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and the LVMH Prize, and he garnered numerous nominations for CFDA Awards including the 2016 CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year award. In 2014, he won the Swarovski Award for Menswear.

Tim Coppens also worked for Adidas and Ralph Lauren as Director of the RLX activewear line.

Under Armour is following the likes of Adidas and Nike by working with a high profile fashion designer on a collection or collaboration. Adidas has an ongoing collaboration with Yohji Yamamoto for Y-3 and Stella McCartney for Adidas by Stella McCartney. The company also has ongoing sneaker collaborations with Raf Simons and Rick Owens.

Nike this week launched its sportswear capsule collection with Olivier Rousteing, which followed two sneaker collaborations with Riccardo Tisci, a collection with Sacai and an ongoing collaboration with Undercover.
