US company Galileo Education acquires French education group Studialis

Published
Aug 24, 2015

Studialis has been acquired by its Luxembourg-based competitor Galileo Education, according to Education Investor. The French group notably controls the Atelier Chardon Savard (a fashion academy), Strate (a design academy) and the Esag-Penninghen school (graphics and interior design), which was acquired last May from its three shareholders.

Studialis brings together 23 academies, training 20,000 students per year.

The French independent higher education network, which recorded a gross operating income of nearly € 20 million and was previously owned by Bregal Capital, has now joined Galileo Education's rather well-stocked portfolio of academies.

The latter is in fact already the proprietor of Atelier de Sèvres (prepping for Parisian art schools), of Milan's Marangoni Institute (fashion academy), the Paris Higher Institute of Applied Arts (LISAA, Institut Supérieur des Arts Appliqués), Macromedia (a communications and new technology academy in Berlin) and the IEU (a university in Mexico).

Galileo Education, Luxembourg-based and concentrating its development in Europe and Latin America, is actually a US company.

The group is in fact owned by Providende Equity Partners, an investment fund controlling several groups connected with education, such as Academedia and Study Group.
