Tom Tailor targets global growth via key new wholesale appointment

Published

Tom Tailor is aiming to boost its international wholesale operations with the appointment of Thomas Bretscher to the newly created position of Vice-President Global Wholesale.

The move comes after the successful reorganisation of the ‘trade partner’ (ie wholesale) business last year, with the company saying it’s now continuing to “further establish central control of this segment”

The new role that Bretscher is taking up has been specifically created to help drive that control forwards. Previously, he was already responsible for the markets of Germany, the Benelux countries and France in his function as Director Sales Germany & Northwest Europe.

The company said it’s seeing the first signs of success following the reorganisation of its wholesale segment with the first performance in the six months of 2018 improving, even though Q2 sales were slightly below the previous year's level with a 1.5% decline.

But importantly, profitability has been enhanced with the gross margin up by 9% and profit on an EBITDA basis rising 9.8%.

Bretscher said: “Already last year, we have taken the right steps by establishing a central control of the wholesale business. Therefore, I am very pleased to be able to globally extend this positive development now.”

The company said it’s seeing promising development in the Spanish and Middle East online markets, as well as expecting growth in Western Central Europe and the Nordics.
