The Body Shop is beginning a fragrant new chapter with 'Elixirs of Nature,' a collection of five fragrances inspired by the rarest natural aromas. The eco-friendly perfumes are set to launch in stores and online in February 2017.

Bowhanti, Kahaia, Widdringtonia, Nigritella ou Swietenia are the names of the new fragrances, which were created based on the concept of sustainability.

In line with the company's 'Enrich Not Exploit' project, signalling the brand's strong commitment to ethical production and sustainability, The Body Shop opted to recreate the odours of the rare plants selected for the fragrances rather than to use them directly. In order to recreate them, the brand first made use of 'headspace' technology, which consists of placing the raw material (wood, flowers and plants) inside a bell jar to aspirate the scent.

For this collection, the perfumers selected by The Body Shop scoured the globe in the search of rare plants, yielding fragrances evocative of Polynesia, Bangalore, French Guyana, South Africa and Switzerland.

Presenting the collection as environmentally-friendly from the creation to the packaging, the 'Elixirs of Nature' collection is available in recycled glass bottles, stopped with FSC-certified corks.
