The store on Albion Street opened on Thursday to crowds of excited shoppers, who were hoping to bag a bargain at the discount retailer.

A TK Maxx spokesperson said: “We are delighted to finally open our doors to the shoppers of Derby. We greeted crowds of excited customers this morning as they headed in to discover the big labels and designer gems. The rapidly changing assortments creates the treasure hunt shopping experience that our customers love and we are so excited to share it with Derby.”

The company launched in the UK in 1994 and now has over 300 stores across the country. It has also recently launched a new store in Liverpool and relocated its Wigan branch.

Over the last year, the business owned by TJX Companies opened new sites in Dagenham, Leamington Spa, Cardiff, Lowestoft, Darlington, Crawley, Loughton, Lisburn, Huntingdon and Braintree.

TK Maxx attracts bargain lovers by offering a big choice of designer products at up to 60% less than the recommended retail price.
