Supreme looking to open store in San Francisco

Supreme has reportedly reached out to local residents in San Francisco's SoMa neighborhood in a letter of intent offering an informational community meeting pertaining to a proposed new store the brand wants to open in 2019.

Supreme Brooklyn, the newest store location for the street label - Supreme

The letter, which was first posted on social media and has since been circulated, is written by Supreme's press representative, Taylor Jordan. In it, Jordan invites the community to come to a meeting about "our proposed new concept retail location" on Market Street.

The location is 1011 Market Street, down the block from Sheikh and Nordstrom Rack. It is two blocks away from the Westfield San Francisco Centre, Westfield's 9 story mall which houses 170 shops, dining and entertainment.

Supreme stores transform neighborhoods with increased traffic and the need for heightened security around the label's highly anticipated product launches. To that end, Jordan says the meeting will offer the chance to "meet the team, learn more about Supreme and our products, view our renderings and ask questions."

The community planning meeting seems to be in line with a more formal expansion strategy in the wake of a 50% sale of Supreme to the Carlyle Group for $500 million in October of 2017. The deal prompted discussion on how the street image of Supreme would maintain its authenticity with such mainstream financial backing.

Supreme's San Francisco store would be the fourth in the US for the brand. Last year, Supreme opened a Brooklyn store and it also operates stores in NY and LA, as well as globally.

According to the letter, the community meeting is slated for Tuesday, May 8th at 6pm, with the store anticipated to open next year.
