To support the growing demand for Skechers in the UK & Ireland, the company has expanded its presence in the region with new headquarters in St. Albans, Hertfordshire.

An upgrade from its current locale in Potters Bar, the new 17,500 sq ft facility houses the company’s offices for the UK & Ireland as well as nine product showrooms. These are designed with the latest audio-visual systems to offer an interactive experience for accounts, from theatre-styled displays presenting the latest designs, to camera link projections that enable product close-up views.

“Skechers’ European business played a pivotal role in our first quarter 2016 record sales of $978 million – and in particular, the United Kingdom, which achieved one of our largest year-over-year dollar gains by shipping a million and a half pairs during that period,” said David Weinberg, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the brand.

The company has invested significantly in its European infrastructure, including the expansion of the European Distribution Centre and the renovation of showrooms in most markets. “We’re confident that these operational investments, including the new headquarters in the U.K., will help bring us closer to our goal of growing our international sector into half of our total business over the next few years,” said David Weinberg.

Country Manager, Pete Youell, added: “Our business in the U.K. and Ireland has grown substantially over the last five years, and Skechers is now established as one of the premier footwear brands in this market… With our broad appeal and family footwear offering, we believe, that through continual product innovations and increased brand awareness, we will continue to grow here to become even bigger and stronger in this strategically important marketplace.”

Established in 2001, Skechers’ subsidiary for the UK & Ireland has become its highest-grossing international branch. It operates 43 standalone stores across the region, as well as partnerships with department stores, high street chains and athletic retailers and an e-commerce platform.

In total, the California-based company has more than 1,410 retail stores worldwide.
