Shinola, the American heritage brand that started as a shoe polishing company - hence the saying "You don’t know shit from Shinola" - is upgrading its space in London's Carnaby Street area.

The original store in the Newburgh Quarter opened last year and measures 550 sqft. It was Shinola's first store outside the US, and its success means that the company, which is known for its handmade products, is now upgrading to a bigger space.

Shinola's new store will be located on the corner of Foubert’s Place and Newburgh Street and measure 1,354 sqft.

“Due to a massive success for Shinola and their first store outside of the US, the independent brand will double its size and retail space in Carnaby’s Newburgh Quarter adding to the strong and diverse retail mix in the 13 streets of Carnaby.” says Samantha Bain-Mollison, Group Retail Strategist and Leasing Executive at Shaftesbury.

Another American label, Filson, is also expanding in the area and will be opening a second store in Carnaby later this year.
