Luxury brands at London’s St Pancras International enjoyed a bumper Christmas season, with like-for-like sales up 10.1% over the period, compared with the 0.6% growth reported by the wider retail sector.

The railway station is home to prestigious brands such as Fortnum & Mason, LK Bennett, Calvin Klein Underwear, Olive Bonas, Thomas Pink, The White Company, Ted Baker and Whistles.

Its operator HS1 Ltd said sales increased strongly across all retail categories, particularly fashion and food, during the ten-week period between 29 October and 31 December 2017.

The performance comes after the arrival of a host of new retailers in 2018, including Calvin Klein, Kikki K, Chanel, Ted Baker and Petit Bateu. 2018 has begun with additional investment into the station, with Links of London planning to relocate into a larger unit and the development of new stores.

Wendy Spinks, commercial director at HS1 Ltd, said: “Christmas has capped off yet another excellent year for retail at St Pancras, as the station continues to buck the trend of the wider high street. St Pancras proves that bricks and mortar works when it’s convenient, accessible and a destination in itself.

“Today, one in six of our 50 million visitors are not coming here to catch a train, and the station has become an iconic festive location. From our famous Christmas Tree – this year a hand-crafted 47ft floral sensation created by our very own luxury florist, Moyses Stevens, to working with our diverse range of retailers, investment makes St Pancras a wonderful place to be.”

The station will celebrate its 150th anniversary this year with a series of events, exhibitions and installations.
