Flannels’ store in Leeds was targeted by ram raiders on Monday evening, in the third such attack on the store in eight months.

It is estimated that tens of thousands of pounds worth of designer clothes have been stolen.

Police officers said the incident was “clearly a planned and organised offence”, as the burglars used a black Nissan to smash the front window of the Flannels shop. The group of four thieves quickly loaded two other vehicles before fleeing the scene.

Flannels, owned by Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct, sells clothing from high-end brands including Valentino, Polo Ralph Lauren, Moncler, Canada Goose, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry and Fendi.

A 24-year old man man has been arrested by police officers in connection with the investigation of the raid and is currently in custody.

“We are very much aware that this shop has been targeted on previous occasions for the high-value clothing that it sells,” Detective Inspector Amanda Wimbles of Leeds District CID said.

"There is nothing at this stage to link last night’s raid to any of the previous incidents but we are keeping an open mind. We are currently carrying out checks on CCTV in the area and conducting enquiries around the vehicles involved.

“We would like to speak to people who witnessed the incident, particularly anyone who filmed the offence in progress on their phones.”
