Puig-Valentino collaboration reveals first fragrance

Published
Jul 12, 2011

Having signed a license in 2010, Puig and Valentino have just revealed their first fragrance together. Called Valentina, the new perfume for women has been classified as floral-oriental with “Italian ingredients” and is expected to hit stores in September, with the campaign fronted by model Freja Beha.

Created by Olivier Cresp and Alberto Morillas, the new scent blends bergamot from Calabria, white truffles from Alba, Amalfi’s orange blossoms, tuberose, wild strawberries, cedar and amber notes. The container is a delicate glass bottle, decorated with flowers and a silver lid with a black pearl on top.

Puig must have high expectations for the new Valentina line, which includes not only the Eau de Parfum but also a body lotion, shower gel, body oil and a deodorant spray. Previous perfume launches by the group have enjoyed remarkable success, such as One Million by Paco Rabanne or even Ricci Ricci by Nina Ricci.

Puig, which is also the owner of Jean Paul Gaultier, saw its revenue for the most recent fiscal year shoot up 22% to more than 1.2 billion euros. The group already expects that figure to have moved up to 1.3 billion in 2011. Its operating profit in 2010 almost doubled to 189 million. Its Spanish market, which represents one quarter of total sales, also grew by 2%. As for the rest of the world, sales increased 30%. Aside from the new fragrance with Valentino, a launch in collaboration with Prada is also expected.
