Primark's Centre:MK signing is mall's biggest in 25 years

It seems rarely a day goes by at the moment without reports of a planned new Primark store and the latest is at Centre:mk in Milton Keynes where the mall has inked a deal for Primark to take the centre’s biggest space of the last 25 years.

Primark

Primark will take a 75,000 sq ft site with mall joint owners Hermes Investment Management and AustralianSuper saying the retail giant will move into an extension of the former BHS on Silbury Arcade. Work will start on the space next year.

It’s good news for the mall both because it deals with the problem of the empty BHS site (an issue shopping centres and high streets all over the UK are also having to work around at present), but also because it justifies the heavy spend that Centre:mk has seen.

Its owners have invested over £60 million in a three-year period, with parts of the property  itself being refurbished while the Deer Walk customer experience services was unveiled during the summer and a new multi-storey carpark was added.

The previous largest letting for the property there came a quarter of a century ago when M&S opened a megastore.
The new Primark will be one of the brand’s biggest UK locations and Centre:mk’s landlords expect it to attract a signifiant umber of new shoppers to the mall.
