Première Vision Paris: a 5.85% fall in attendance

The Paris textile trade show attracted 55,025 visitors from 16th to 18th February at the Villepinte Exhibition Centre. It was not immune to the decline in attendance affecting all trade shows, and recorded a 5.85% decrease in visitors.

The six shows making up Première Vision Paris brought together 1,725 exhibiting companies. An offering which attracted professionals mostly coming from outside France, as 73% of them did. After the 15,070 French visitors, the UK was the most represented nation in the exhibition halls (12% of total visitors), ahead of Italy (11.5%). These countries were followed by Spain, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. The organisers noted in passing a rise in the Swedish attendance (624 visitors), and in the Danish ones (457 visitors).

As for Asia, it represented 9% of visiting professionals. The Japanese presence was reduced to 1,258 visitors, a direct consequence of the concern caused by last November's Paris attacks. Professionals from China also recorded a downturn in numbers, to 1,234, since the show's dates were close to the Chinese New Year. A notable increase was however reported in visitors from North America, 1,847 in total. While Turkey was the sixth most represented nation, with 2,311 professionals.

"Numbers notwithstanding, this edition was indeed notable for the high quality of the trade professionals gathered at Villepinte," underlined the organisers. "And although, often for economic and organisational reasons, some companies have been reducing the size of their visiting teams for some seasons now, in terms of quality, it is the most influential decision-makers, creative professionals and purchasing executives who are attending."

The next edition of Première Vision Paris will be held from 13th to 15th September. Between now and then, it will be the turn of Première Vision Istanbul (23rd-25th March), Made in France PV (6th-7th April), Première Vision Designs NY (12th-13th April), and Denim Première Vision in Barcelona (18th-19th April). Above all, on 6th and 7th July Paris will host  the first edition of Blossom Première Vision, a new event dedicated to pre-collections.
