Pitti Uomo 89: a smartphone-connected accessories line by Piquadro

The world is getting more digital every day, and Italian leather goods manufacturer Piquadro has created a line of smart accessories capable of communicating. The Pitti Uomo 2016 show will introduce the new Pulse collection, consisting of backpacks, handbags, kit bags and suitcases which, thanks to a tiny device that connects via an app to smartphones, can tell you if you are separated from them.

The Pulse collection by Piquadro

The device created by Piquadro is called Connequ and works just like an alarm, activating your smartphone's ringtone if you forget your attaché case as you leave the train, if someone takes your suitcase at the airport or if you drop your keys while jogging.

Connequ's applications also help with everyday routines: you simply need to insert it in your wallet and link it to your house and car keys, and you will be able to run a fast check of all that you have in your backpack each morning, before leaving the house. And if you have forgotten something at the office or at the gym? Connequ's app features a map that will show you where the object was last located.

The Connequ device is incorporated in a leather tag to be attached to bags, suitcases or backpacks, and will be home-delivered free of charge to customers who buy leather and tech fabric items from the new Pulse line. To request it you simply need to fill in the online form at the piquadro.com website, which allows you to personalise the tag with your name or initials.

Connequ works with all the new operating systems: iOS (iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 5 Gen, New iPad 3 and later versions), Samsung (Samsung Galaxy S3/S4/Note2/Note3 and later versions) and in general Android (from version 4.3 on). Connequ's battery lasts for 6 months and, once flat, can be easily substituted. The device's operating range is approximately 30-40 yards.

The Pulse accessories line, with which Piquadro is launching Connequ, is casual in style, and offers a wide range of colours and motifs. It is available in olive green camo, electric blue and black colours, and in two different tartan prints, as well as in a wide monochrome palette ranging from ordinary black and grey to bright green and red. The new Pulse line featuring Connequ will be available from February 2016 in all Piquadro stores.
