Petit Bateau likes to invite designers, whether they are well known or up-and-coming, to put their own spin on pieces that are classic to the brand. Alongside names such as Tsumori Chisato, Carven, Christian Lacroix, Cédric Charlier, the brand has added the grand prize winners of the Hyères Festival to the list since last year.

Following in the footsteps of Satu Maaranen, the 2013 winner, it is now Kenta Matsushige's turn to offer his own take on Petit Bateau’s essentials. Through the partnership with the Festival of Hyères, the young Japanese designer has produced a capsule centered on the striped nautical tee and t-shirt. It will be presented to the public in April.

Matsushige has drawn inspiration from kimonos in order produce a voluminous t-shirt, deconstructing the stripe and embossed designs with superimpositions. A short sleeve nautical tee and a nautical tee-style dress that comes in several colors will be sold starting at 45 euros in a selection of Petit Bateau shops.

A little later in the month, from April 23-27, the capsule will be offered at a pop-up store set up at Villa Noailles during the next edition of the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography, where the collaborative project began last year.
