A new Paul Smith concept store has opened in San Francisco, at 46-50 Geary Street, an address selected by the designer himself.

“I have chosen Geary St, which I think is a great location, even though it is not the Union Square end. I instantly fell in love with the building because of its strong 1950’s façade; a strong, graphic piece of architecture. Inside I have tried to make a series of rooms, each with their own character so that visiting the store is a really special experience where you can really discover things, as we will not be selling just clothes and accessories for men and women but books, objects, curiosities and much more.”

The concept store will open with shoes and accessories from Paul Smith, in surroundings presented as an homage to American stylists, amongst them Donald Jubb, Paul Evans and Karl Springer. A press release by the designer describes the store as, “a striking mix of mid century modern and traditional turn of the century design, drawing inspiration from the Geary Street 1950’s façade, and brick face of the back entrance on Maiden Lane.”
