Patrick Cox launches new brand

It’s a comeback that will certainly be talked about. Eight years after the sale of his "Patrick Cox" brand, the British designer is back with his new footwear brand, "Lathbridge by Patrick Cox", the name derived from his real last name.

To be sold for the first season (winter 2015/2016) at Kurt Geiger, the British high-end footwear chain currently owned by Sycamore investment, Lathbridge presented its second collection for summer 2016 in London and then at the trade show Capsule this weekend.

"I’ve been craving this," said Patrick Cox. "It allows me to have free reign and to design - I’m like a kid in a candy store."

Concretely, Lathbridge will present a wide collection of shoes and sneakers for men and women, with bulldog logos, a fetish of the designer, who continues to embody an English mindset, with, alongside his classical side, numerous "Patrick Cox" touches: a 70s style disco ball, a military camouflage pattern, butterfly and floral prints…, with the entirety of the collection (the backpack and wallet line included) manufactured in Italy and sold between 295 and 500 euros.

A star in the 80s and 90 with his eponymous footwear brand launched in 1985, Cox became known for his numerous collaborations with John Galliano, also notably opening two stores in London and in Paris in 1994. He was crowned "Accessory Designer of the Year" for two years, and was named artistic director of Charles Jourdan

In 2007, the brand was sold for 2.5 million pounds. During this period, the designer left his job and opened a bakery in London, before returning in 2012 to design a creative line for the breathable footwear brand Geox

In the coming months, the Lathbridge brand should open its own e-shop (before Christmas) and a pop-up store in London with the ultimate goal of opening brand stores, starting with London.
