New ceilings and entrance doors, energy efficient lighting, new décor, contemporary seating areas, and improved WiFi are some of the changes that will be implemented at the centre as part of a £1.8m refurbishment programme launched by real estate firm Hines.

The shopping centre, one of the largest in Scotland, is home to some 160 retailers, including Superdry, Warehouse, Topshop, H&M and New Look, with Marks & Spencer, Primark and Debenhams anchoring the line-up.

It has recently seen several brands relocate to larger premises, such as Bonmarché and Yours Clothing.

Sharon Bloodworth, director of Shopping Centre Asset Management for Hines UK, said: “The £1.8m revamp of Phase 1, built in 1976, includes refreshing and modernising the interior of this area of the shopping centre to bring it into line with the newer parts of the centre.  We are confident our changes will enhance the overall shopping experience for our customers and create a positive boost to the trading environment for our retailers.”

Work on the refurbishment has already started and is expected to reach completion by December.
