New plans unveiled for £50m retail and office scheme in S Yorkshire

Plans have been submitted to build a £50 million retail, office and leisure scheme at Waverley, Rotherham, creating 700 new jobs.

The project, led by major property companies Dransfield Properties and Harworth Group, includes plans to create a gym, office units, a 20,000 sq ft food store and approximately 90,000 sq ft of retail space including shops, restaurants and cafes, which will be set around a central car park area.

The companies said the scheme would have attractive rooftop walkways, landscaped piazza areas with water features and a “town square” where regular Farmers’ Markets can be held.

The development will formally link the internationally renowned Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) and the residential area, incorporating ‘much-needed’ community facilities.

Yorkshire’s leading brownfield development is already home to 600 homes and the AMP which includes world-leading firms including Rolls-Royce and Boeing.  The next 15 years will see up to 3,400 further homes built, in addition to a further 1m sq. ft of manufacturing space to further grow the AMP.

“Waverley is an exciting development which has great potential for creating a high-quality retail and leisure environment, designed to support the growing community and the wider region,” said Mark Dransfield, managing director, when the company announced a joint venture with Harworth Group to deliver the development in January.
The development team are seeking grant funding to deliver the high standard of architecture that the scheme will deliver.
