New fashion rental service launches in the UK

A husband and wife team have launched a brand new luxury fashion destination offering high-end designer eveningwear and occasion wear for hire.

Founded by Mark and Alainnah Joyce, Hire That Look was born to meet the needs of women who want to wear a luxurious dress to a wedding or event without breaking the bank. In addition to providing a cheaper alternative, the platform promotes the reuse of garments in response to the 235 million tonnes of waste that UK consumers generate each year.

From Marchesa and Victoria Beckham to Self Portrait and Halston Heritage, the site focuses on evening wear and occasion dresses that can be rented for a period of four or eight days. Garments are available to book in advance at up to 90% off retail price.

“We want to make luxury fashion accessible and sustainable. Every year thousands of tons of clothes end up in landfill sites, wasting precious resources and damaging our environment,” said Mark and Alainnah Joyce.

The platform follows the business model of successful fashion rental services in the US like Rent the Runway.
