New York City will get a Nordstrom Men store in 2018

Even as many major retailers struggle to maintain their existing stores, Nordstrom is preparing for a series of major openings in New York City. The company will open a new store dedicated exclusively to menswear in midtown Manhattan in the spring of 2018.

 
The new men’s store will open ahead of Nordstrom’s long awaited new flagship store in New York City in Central Park Tower, which will make its debut in 2019. The men’s store will occupy the first three floors of the 3 Columbus Circle building.
 
New York’s upcoming Nordstrom flagship store will occupy four different properties, all a few feet away from the future men’s store. Opening in the fall of 2019, the flagship store will occupy multiple floors at Central Park Tower, 5 Columbus Circle and 1776 Broadway. The different properties of the massive flagship store will all be connected, with the Columbus Circle floors alone measuring 43,000 feet.

As other department stores like Macy’s, Sears and JCPenney’s have faced mass store closures, Nordstrom has managed to keep its sales afloat. The Seattle-based company met expectations for its most recent financial quarter, despite a .8 percent drop in comparable sales. The company was also recently forced to cut over 100 jobs.
