Marni Pre-Fall 2015: 1970s prints, colored furs, Asian-inspired silk

The Italian brand's latest womenswear collection offers an eclectic look at Pre-Fall dressing for 2015.

Consuelo Castiglioni looked to the clash of 1970s prints and designs for her forward thinking new collection at Marni. Asymmetrical touches to skirts and patterns designed to evoke Suzan Frecon's paintings caught the eye as did the colorblock dresses and the plethora of colored furs inspired by artist Nick Cave's tactile soundsuits. Patterned socks were worn with the footwear, which was focused on mule sandals and boots with sculptural heels and running shoes in geometric print.

There were also some subtler delights including solid smock tops, military felts, quilted nylons, leather, rib knits and smooth flared pants (one of this season's key styles). The chunky leather envelope belts were worn high on the waist and accompanied similarly interesting gloves. Added glamour came from some Asian-inspired silk floral looks and an added dash of crystal embellishment on gowns. The dense color palette mixed the somber and the occasionally electric through a range of neutrals, greens, blues and reds.
