US fashion label Marchesa, highly popular with Hollywood stars, was a guest of honour at the Arab Fashion Week this season alongside Antonio Marras, and enjoyed the opportunity of showing twice. The first time on the event's opening day, 16th May, and the second at the end of the fashion week, on 20th May.

Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman, who founded the fashion label in 2004, said: "For the Spring/Summer 2017 collection we drew inspiration from China, from its architecture, culture and colours. With our bridal collection, we instead wished to recreate the charm of English manor houses and their gardens."

Two contrasting sources of inspiration which shared the same romantic mood, as both collections featured a wealth of feathers, embroidery, ribbons, ruffles and sheer or draped effects, evident in their bare-back dresses with split fronts and corsets decorated with voluminous bows.

The silhouettes were bright with an array of colours typical of Chinese culture: metallic green, bold red, blue and pastel pink, and the collections were highly appreciated by the sizeable audience.

Georgina Chapman, the wife of renowned US film producer Harvey Weinstein, said: "Dubai is a glamorous city, where women love taking good care of themselves and pay special attention to their outfits. If you just take a look around, you can see that fashion is part of this city's DNA. We want to make Marchesa a leading lifestyle label and we are focusing on expanding in the Middle East."

Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman have recently opened a store in the prestigious Dubai Mall, and thanks to the Arab Fashion Week they were able to let this new market appreciate their style.
