Lineapelle hits New York on the road to Milan

Published
Jan 30, 2018

Lineapelle New York opens tomorrow, following its London counterpart in the run-up to the leather trade fair’s 94th edition in Milan, and promising seminars, a workshop and over 100 exhibitors.

The New York show will take place at the Metropolitan Pavilion - Lineapelle

The two-day New York trade show will feature three style seminars and a workshop on the subject of “leather as a material”. Some 120 certified international exhibitors will participate in Lineapelle New York this year, a figure that has seen net growth since the previous edition, confirming the fair’s status as a key leather industry event for the North American market.

The show will also feature a dedicated “Trend Area” at its entrance, giving visitors a comprehensive summary of the Summer ’19 trends on display.

The New York fair follows hot on the heels of Lineapelle London, which took place on January 23 at the Ham Yard Hotel and played host to over 50 exhibitors, including tanners, accessories and components producers, and fabric manufacturers. The Fashion Committee of the London event also organized a style seminar examining trends for 2019 around the reference mood “empathy”.

Both the London and the New York shows are, however, only warm-up acts for the main event, Lineapelle94, which will take place in Milan from February 20 to 22 at Fieramilano Rho. Last year’s fair boasted 1,198 exhibitors, and organizers claimed at the end of 2017 that they had already matched that number with two months to go before the next edition’s opening.

The Milan trade show is an essential event for those working in the leather industry, attracting around 21,800 visitors last year. Lineapelle94 currently has a turnover of over 150 million euros and is reportedly exploring new ways of engaging with exhibitors and visitors to better fulfill their needs.

The Lineapelle trade shows are held twice a year in London, New York and Milan, bringing together producers of leather, textiles and synthetics, components and hardware for shoes, handbags and leather goods, leatherwear, upholstery and car interiors.

Lineapelle New York opens tomorrow, January 30, 2018 at the Metropolitan Pavilion and will run until February 1.
