Levi's opens Workspace in London for cyclists

Published
Aug 8, 2014

On August 7, Levi's opened a Commuter Workspace that will run until 17 August in Shoreditch in London. It’s part of a series of Workspaces organized in July and August in New York, Los Angeles and London.

The brand has invited Londoners to come together, connect and collaborate. The Workspaces are designed for people moving into town and strives to provide creative and collaborative experiences that include concerts, social and cultural events, free coffee, free Wi-Fi, exhibitions from local artists, free instructional bike workshops and free repair services provided by local mechanics.

As part of the Workspaces, Levi's has also partnered with niche brands in order to create limited edition complementary, limited edition accessories that reflect the same cutting edge technologies and style as the Levi’s Commuter collection.

For example, the bike saddle and vintage leather goods maker Brooks England has helped design a limited edition Cambium saddle, produced from recycled Levi’s denim.

Exclusively available in the Workspaces, these saddles are a version of the Cambium C17, which uses vulcanized rubber pressure techniques.

The those who donate denim at the Workspace will be entered for a chance to win one of the exclusive saddles and will also receive a promotional code for a 20% discount on saddle pre-orders sold on the Brooks website.

Additionally, Levi's has asked an artist from each city to create a custom pin to commemorate each Workspace and to celebrate cycling in local communities. (Brooklyn: Damien Correl/ Los Angeles: Ben Jones/ London: Sara De Bont).

To celebrate the Workspace’s opening, Levi's has also produced a series of short films to celebrate and inspire the “commuters" of the world. The film series "The Ride" features three modern urbanites from each city where cycling is a way of life, or "an extension of the soul."

The film about London features James Massiah, a 23 year-old London poet and DJ who founded The A & The E, a platform for discussions about philosophy and the arts.
