The store will be situated on Henrietta Street and is planned to open in early spring 2017 with the brand’s footwear collections for men and women.

Joseph Cheaney & Sons has specialised in making traditional English shoes since 1886. The independent business has six directly-owned stores in the UK, including a flagship store on Jermyn Street and outposts in Lime Street, Bow Lane, Spitalfields, Cambridge and Leeds.

The Covent Garden branch will present a contemporary take on the art of shoe making, with subtle detailing and materials, which provide a nod to its craft and ‘Made in England’ heritage.

The brand’s shoes are wholly made in England at the company’s factory in Desborough, Northamptonshire.

Cheaney has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade three times since its launch, the latest being this year.
